Steven Haig

Policy Analyst

Steven Haig is a policy analyst for IISD’s Energy Program, working on oil and gas policy in Canada.
 
Prior to joining IISD, Steven completed a master’s degree in international affairs at the Geneva Graduate Institute. As a student in Geneva, he used his thesis to develop a framework for understanding how international institutions can be designed to facilitate progressive climate policy at the domestic level across various national contexts. He remains interested in identifying avenues between domestic and international politics for advancing climate action.
 
During his previous professional experience, Steven completed research on diverse topics, such as migration in the context of climate change, critical minerals supply chains, and small-scale renewable energy projects as a means for inclusive economic development. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in law and international relations from the University of Edinburgh.
